Informed Consent

Introduction to the study and its significance: This current study titled “Teacher Perception on
Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)” aims to explore the teacher perception of applying CLT
in Cambodian context, the benefits they have received from CLT and the major challenges that
teachers have faced during applying CLT in classroom. This study is conducted to respond to the
problem that most teachers always find CLT difficulty to apply in their classroom. Therefore, your
contribution is of critical importance in understanding the difficulties of applying CLT in ESL
classroom in Cambodia.

Content of the instrument and the engagement procedure: This interview contains questions
related to teacher perception of applying CLT in Cambodian context, the benefits they have received
from CLT and the major challenges that teachers have faced during applying CLT in classroom.
Participants will be interviewed for 30 minutes to 1 hour around these focused themes. The interview
is face to face, and voice recorder is used to store data from the interview for future transcription and
analyses.

Confidential information: Data collected will be fully confidential, and only the researchers of this
study have access to these datasets. The data will also not be used for other purposes other than those
of the research study itself. The researchers do not disclose participants’ name and personal
information in the writing for publication. The participation is completely voluntary, and participants
can always withdraw from the study or during the data collection any time.
